ANNEX A About this policy

A.a)This policy sets out our arrangements for ensuring we meet our health and safety obligations to staff and anyone visiting our premises or affected by our work.

A.b)Amy Saunders has overall responsibility for health and safety and the operation of this policy. Carly Chandler-Morris is Amy’s deputy and has responsibility in Amy’s absence.

A.c)This policy does not form part of any employee's contract of employment and we may amend it at any time. We will continue to review this policy to ensure it is achieving its aims.

ANNEX B Your responsibilities

B.a)All staff (and any volunteers) share responsibility for achieving safe working conditions. You must take care of your own health and safety and that of others, observe applicable safety rules and follow instructions for the safe use of equipment.

B.b)You should report any health and safety concerns immediately to Amy Saunders, or in Amy’s absence, Carly Chandler-Morris (Managers). Amy’s phone number is 07517169569 and her email is hello@hideawaywood.co.uk. Carly’s phone number is 07724621313 and her email is farm@hideawaywood.co.uk.

B.c)You must co-operate with the Managers on health and safety matters, including the investigation of any incident.

ANNEX C Information and consultation

We will inform and consult directly with all staff (including any volunteers) as required regarding health and safety matters.

ANNEX D Training

D.a)We will ensure that you are given adequate training and supervision to perform your work competently and safely.

D.b)Staff will be given a health and safety induction and provided with appropriate safety training. This may include manual handling, control of substances hazardous to health, working safely with animals and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), as necessary.

ANNEX E Equipment

You must use equipment in accordance with any instructions given to you. Any equipment fault or damage must immediately be reported to the Managers. Do not attempt to repair equipment unless trained to do so.

ANNEX F Accidents and first aid

F.a)First-aid facilities are in the Hideout communal facility.

F.b)All accidents and injuries at work, however minor, should be reported to the Managers and recorded in the accident book which is kept in the Hideout.

ANNEX G Fire safety

G.a)All staff should familiarise themselves with the fire safety instructions as communicated as part of the induction.

G.b)We carry out regular fire risk assessments and regular checks of fire extinguishers etc.

G.c)You should not enter the Manager’s cabin, or any of the caravans on site and they are not covered by our Health & Safety Policy.

G.d)The other shelter / buildings identified as a potential (but remote) fire risk is the Hideout, facilities blocks and animal / hay shelters – there is a fire blanket and fire extinguisher in the Hideout, given the cooking facilities in situ.

G.e)Smoking is not permitted in or near any of our shelters.

G.f)Firepits should not be left unattended.

G.g)Fire buckets should be close to any firepits.

G.h)In the event of a fire, the muster point is the top of the steps above the Hideout.

ANNEX H Risk assessments and measures to control risk

We carry out risk assessments periodically. The purpose is to assess the risks to health and safety of employees, visitors and other third parties as a result of our activities, and to identify any measures that need to be taken to control those risks.

Please refer to latest risk assessment for risks and mitigation strategies.

Please let us know if you identify any risks not included in our risk assessment, no matter how minor.
