1. Purpose & Scope


This policy helps us to ensure the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable adults attending our services. It aligns with relevant safeguarding legislation and West Northamptonshire procedures.


2. Key Principles


• The safety and welfare of vulnerable adults is our highest priority.
• We treat all individuals with dignity, respect, and without discrimination.
• Adults who attend with carers remain the responsibility of their carers; we act in support.


3. Roles & Responsibilities


• Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Amy Saunders – Director / Founder is tasked with receiving concerns, recording accurately, and coordinating with relevant agencies.
• All staff, volunteers, and contractors must report any concerns promptly to the DSL.
 

4. Reporting Procedures


• Emergency (Immediate Risk): Call 999.
• Non-emergency adult safeguarding concerns (during business hours):

• Or complete the online referral form via West Northamptonshire Council.

6. Safe Practice Guidelines


• Never leave a vulnerable adult unattended or unaccompanied by their carer.
• Avoid physical contact unless necessary for safety.
• Conduct regular risk assessments for your facilities and activities.
• Ensure staff complete relevant safeguarding training regularly and are DBS checked.
 

7. Confidentiality & Information Handling
Maintain confidentiality at all times. Share details only with relevant agencies and follow the GDPR and safeguarding legal framework.
 

8. Record Keeping
Document all incidents clearly: nature of concern, actions taken, and any referrals made. Securely store records for audit and future reference.
 

9. Policy Review
Review annually or following any safeguarding incident or relevant legislative update.
