History
The farm was originally part of Dodford Manor (which is now the lovely wedding venue next door).
The manor was once owned by Robert, Count of Mortain (who was the half-brother of William the Conqueror) and the village is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086.
The land on which the alpacas now roam was once a now ancient deer park.
The official name of our ancient woodland is Poolbank Spinney, a beautiful woodland with much history, including remnants of the old monks pools which were thought to have been built to supply fish for the Manor House. We’d love to restore them someday!
Dodford has a Grade I listed parish church, called St Mary the Virgin. It was founded by the Normans in 1066, rebuilt by Ralph de Keynes in 1100, and the tower and north chapel were added by William de Keynes in 1221.
