Our Story
Hi there! I'm Amy, a mum of three daughters and a self-taught farmer.
After many years of living abroad and working in corporate jobs, what I really yearned for was a more simple existence on the land. Growing food, raising animals and living more self-sufficiently.
I am very fortunate that this beautiful (and historic) land was already in my family - I am a second generation caretaker/custodian of the farm and I don't take that job lightly! My dream long term is to farm the land regeneratively and leave a legacy to the community and my own family.
Since we started out, we've planted circa eight thousand trees and shrubs, welcomed six bee hives, and met countless visitors who have been here for alpaca trekking, camping, glamping and events and we're only just getting started - watch this space!
The journey hasn't always been easy - the land was purely agricultural land, so we had to (and to an extent still are) navigate the process of securing planning permission to live here as agricultural workers in a tiny home (cabin). I'd love to help others navigate this process someday.
It has been a labour of love and we're now on a mission to ensure that the business is sustainable - both from an environmental perspective and financially too! I learnt very quickly that managing 28 acres and a herd of alpacas requires a village. I think people dream of self-sufficiency, but the reality is that it can only really be done successfully in community.
We have a wonderful team of supporters and volunteers who help us from time to time and I couldn't do it without them and the practical and emotional support of my wing women Carly and Kierra (more about them here).
